Frequently Asked Questions

Tours

What about my kids? Will they enjoy a private tour?

We love kids and go out of our way to make sure we keep them interested during the tour. Whether they are toddlers, pre-teens, teens or young adults we know just how to keep them engaged!

Tell us about their interests, their favorite movies, music and anything else that would be good to know. Your tour guide will do his or her best to incorporate into the tour the things we think he or she would like and find interesting.

We can even do a pre-tour call to discuss the tour and what we’ll be seeing. It’s always a good idea to include the children, if possible, in the discussion so they feel a part of the experience!

How often do we get out of the vehicle during the tour?

On a typical 6 hour tour we get of the vehicle about 6 or 7 times to do some further exploring. Every tour is customized, so we tailor the tour around your needs and interests. You have a lot of flexibility.

The longer the tour the more time we are able to spend outside of the vehicle.  You may also choose to limit the amount of walking do you. The choice is yours. It also depends on the tour you book. Some tours include more sites that we get out at.

What's the best way to see New York: walking tours or a private tour?

Both! Walking around New York is a great way to get to know it more intimately. This is why we incorporate walking through the neighborhoods and sites as much as possible into our tours.

Private tours are an excellent way to see the City because it’s just you and your guide, a local New Yorker. It’s more intimate. You can ask more questions and have it tailored to your specific needs and interests.

Our private tours also give you a good overview of New York. You can then go back to those areas you liked the most to explore them in more detail. And we can certainly help you with that too!

Getting around the City like a local using subways and taxis is also something every visitor should do at some point during their trip.

What kind of vehicles do you have?

We use luxury late-model SUVs, sedans and stretch limousines for all our tours, airports and city transportation. All the SUVs and sedans have a moonroof for maximum visibility.

Is there a separate tour guide in addition to the driver?

Yes. The driver is not the tour guide. You will have a separate tour guide in the vehicle with you in addition to the driver. All of our guides are licensed and meticulously trained to give you the best tour of New York City you can possible imagine!

Can I request a specific tour guide?

Yes. While all our guide are amazing you can certainly request a specific tour guide. In fact, we give our guides a bonus for repeat customers who request them.

Go to our ‘Meet your guide’ section on this website to watch a quick video introduction of each of our tour guides! You can request any guide you want.

What will I see on my tour?

It depends on which tour you book. Every tour is highly customized to meet your specific interests, needs and requests. If there are specific sites that are important to you just let us know and we’ll be sure to put an emphasis on them in your tour.

If you have certain interests such as history, art, TV & movie locations or anything else be sure to tell us! We pride ourselves on giving you the most highly customized tour possible.

You can also see a list of sites for specific tours on our website. Just click on the name of the tour you are interested in, view the ‘itinerary’ and you will find all the details on what you’ll see.

From the homepage you will see a ‘View all’ link. This is take you to a list of all the tours and packages we currently offer. The ‘Day Tours’ and ‘Vacation Packages’ at the top of every page will also show you this.

Do your tours operate in bad weather?

If driving conditions are safe then, yes. Tours operate rain or shine. If there is inclement weather and conditions are determined to be unsafe we will contact you as soon as possible to try to reschedule your tour.

If your tour cannot be rescheduled and is cancelled by us due to inclement weather you will receive a full refund.

Can we make changes to the tour last minute?

We always do our best to accommodate our guests. Last minute rescheduling of your tour can be difficult. If you would only like to start your tour a little earlier or later most of the times we can accommodate you. However, moving your tour to a different day at the last minute is usually not possible.

If, during your tour, you decide you’d like to spend more time at a particular site or see something that we didn’t plan on seeing initially your guide is usually able to accommodate you. You do have quite a bit of flexibility.

Yes. Tours are available in Spanish, German, French, Russian and Italian.

Do we have a chance to get something to eat during the tour?

Yes. All tours provide for a chance to grab a bite to eat. Most tours include NYC-style pizza or Katz’s Delicatessen but you may decide to have something else if you wish. Just let us know ahead of time and we will make a note of it.

Typically, lunch is taken “to-go” so as to maximize our time. If, however, you prefer a more relaxed sit-down meal just let us know and we will take care of it for you.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code on our tours. The only exception is when we show you the secret wine cellar at the 21 Club, in which case business casual attire is required (no jeans, sneakers, baseball hats) with jackets for gentlemen.

Where comfortable shoes to do a fair amount of walking.
